Castle Oberdorf – A showpiece from the Renaissance in a deep sleep Castle Oberdorf, an impressive Renaissance building, was completed in 1604 by Franz von Teuffenbach after construction was started by his father, Bernhard von Teuffenbach, in 1576. The castle, which was originally surrounded by a fortified wall and a moat, still impresses today with its striking corner towers, the ridge turret and the elegant columned arcades in the inner courtyard. A valuable parlor from 1607, once part of the palace furnishings, is now in the Joanneum Universal Museum in Graz. The door on the narrow side with inlay work is a prime example of the German Renaissance. It is not without reason that it is ironically called the „Schreinerrenaissance“.
